It is with a sense of wonder, curiosity, sadness, and gratitude that I am announcing the closing of my Ithaca-based psychotherapy practice. I have worked for over 40 years in human services in Central New York and the Twin Tiers of New York and Pennsylvania, with brief detours to Florida and New Hampshire, and the last twenty of those years have been in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.
We have been blessed with an opportunity to return to our native Pennsylvania, where we will be closer to our children and grandchildren, and I am making a shift in how I think about my service to others and how I balance that with care for my own body and soul.
The plan is for me to get us settled into our new home, establish a walking and yoga practice, break out my long-neglected art and writing supplies, read (a lot!), and reconnect with family and friends. This is my dream for retirement!
I know there are other things percolating in me, too, ways that I want to continue to grow and share that growth experience with others.
I will be keeping, and looking to deepen, my connection with The Eden Alternative and my work as an Educator and Mentor.
I also hope to offer Women’s Circles and retreats, based on the life-changing, transformative training I received from Jalaja Bonheim and the Institute for Circlework in 2018 and 2019.
What form might these Circles take?
I have some ideas, and I will be sharing them with you in the months to come, but I’d like to hear from you about what you envision for your own “next chapter.”
In the meantime, I am feeling sad as I face my last day of work with my clients. It has been a profoundly sacred experience for me to serve in this capacity, and I am grateful for the many people who have trusted me with their concerns.
You have each helped me grow; thank you.
You’re in my prayers as always. It’s a difficult time, but you’ll make it–and make it well. I love you so and look forward to seeing you often.
Thanks, Mom! I love you, and can’t wait to see you.
It sounds like an exciting, authentic, timely move for you, Lisa. I’m very excited for you! Lots of love from Southern MD. 🙂
Thanks, Chris. I’ll accept all that love and am returning it 100-fold. New beginnings are exciting and sad at the same time, and I cherish your well wishes and prayers. With lots of love always, Lisa K.
Wishing you the absolute best with your next journey. Sounds so great – enjoy all the moments ahead! Thoughts and prayers until our paths cross again!
Thank you, Diane! I appreciate your good thoughts, and please know that I will be keeping you and your work close to my heart. I’m sorry we didn’t have more opportunities to work together, but tomorrow is another day! Take care, Lisa K.
I’m so happy for you Lisa! Please keep me on your email list. I’ll be curious to see what your circles develop into. Best, Sue Spag
Thanks for your good wishes, Sue! I’ll be sure to keep you posted on what’s coming up next. All my best, Lisa K.
Your plan sounds peaceful and creative yet exciting. Enjoy the journey.
Thanks, Sherry. A new kind of challenge for me, as my work has been such a focus and part of my identity. Stay tuned!
Best wishes for a happy, healthy and productive life change Lisa!
Thank you, Cathy! Life does go by quickly, doesn’t it? Carpe Diem.
Congratulations, Lisa, and a richly rewarding career and an exciting next chapter. I will miss you here in Ithaca, and hope you will let us know when you are in town!
Many thanks, Laura, for your kind words. We’ll stay in touch for sure!
